Enable Dark Theme in Firefox on iPhone

FIREFOX INTRODUCES DARK THEME FEATURE FOR IOS

Having Night Mode in Firefox is nothing new, it’s a feature that changes the color of web pages except images and some other elements. But, version 13, which was released a few days back, adds a new theme on top of the stock “Night Mode” feature.

In addition, version 13.0 also provides the ability to search open tabs, filter search results and change the order of the tabs by dragging.

You can instantly enable night mode from the “more options” button. However, this setting fails to darken the header and footer sections of the browser and the Settings section.

Therefore, if you want a “true” dark mode, you must activate this new option from Firefox’s display settings.
DARK THEME VS NIGHT MODE – WHICH IS BETTER?

Remember, the all-new Dark Theme is just an extension of the Night Mode. It’s not an alternative to the stock dark mode, it just complements the existing Night Mode feature.

For this theme to work, you must first enable the Night Mode option from the Settings section.

Here’s how Firefox looks like when you enable Night Mode.

When you enable the Dark Theme along with the Night Mode, the browser will look something like this.

As you can see, the dark theme also changes the color tone of the header as well as the footer. The stock night mode, on the other hand, modifies only the contents of the web page, not the user interface.

We recommend enabling both these options an optimal browsing experience.

Step 2 Launch Firefox and tap the “more options” button present in the bottom right corner.

Step 3 Toggle on the Enable Night Mode option.

MANUAL ACTIVATION

Step 4 Go to Settings > Display.

Step 5 Change the display setting to Dark.

Step 6 Open any web page and ensure that the dark theme works properly.

AUTOMATIC ACTIVATION

While you can activate the dark theme anytime manually, Firefox also lets you trigger it automatically. You can instruct the browser to activate it automatically whenever your display brightness falls below a predefined threshold.

Step 7 Go to Settings > Display again and toggle on Automatically.

Step 8 The grey circle indicates your display’s current brightness level whereas the white circle represents the dark theme threshold. Set the slider to the desired position depending on your requirements.

If you want to enable this theme permanently, slide the white circle all the way to the right. This will ensure that the dark theme stays on even when the brightness level is maximum. If you can’t sync with iTunes and want to rescue data from a disable iPhone, you could try Gihosoft iPhone Data Recovery.
