Chinese version of Huawei G8 runs on a Snapdragon 616

The Chinese variant of the Huawei G8 will go under the name of Huawei Maimang 4 and will run on a Snapdragon 616 octacore processor.

The Snapdragon 616 is a slightly tweaked 615, which adds an X5 LTE World Mode modem. This unlocks its potential to be a solid choice for 4G connectivity, and it’s clocked at 1.2GHz, compared to the 1.0GHz of the 615.

Elsewhere, it retains the 5.5-inch FHD display and comes in 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB storage options.

Cameras are 13MP rear and a 5MP front-facer.

Rugged Arbor Gladius has a great name, looks like a microwave

The Arbor Gladius G1052C is a new rugged Windows 10 tablet with an interesting look that’s not dissimilar to a microwave, thanks to its input pad on the side of the screen.

The heavyweight tablet has a 10.4-inch, 1024 x 768-pixel display and runs on two batteries for a day’s worth of use out in the field. They are also hot-swappable so spares can also be carried.

It can handle four-foot drops and uses Gorilla Glass to save smashes.

There’s also a smart card reader on board as well as GPS and LTE connectivity.

It’s powered by a quad-core Intel Celeron N2930 processor clocked at 1.82GHz, comes with 2GB of RAM and storage options start at 8GB and goes up to 32GB.

Prices start at $1612.
